The Star Wars Celebration of 2022
Imagine if there was a Comic Con for Star Wars every year. Well, there is, and it is called the Star Wars Celebration (SWCA). Hosted by Lucasfilm annually, there are major announcements each year for the Star Wars Franchise for related games, television, and movies.
One of the highlights of the four-day celebration were the announcements regarding the TV shows from Lucasfilm on Disney+. One of them was, of course, the Mandalorian, which revealed that beloved characters such as Bo Katan Kryze played by Katee Sackhoff, the Armorer played by Emily Swallow, and Dr. Pershing played by Omid Abtahi would be returning for the third season.
There were also some other major reveals for some of the other shows coming from the Star Wars universe. For example, in the show Andor, which is premiering in August 2022, it was announced that Genevieve O’Reilly will be starring as Mon Mothma.
Beyond just the Star Wars universe, there was also a trailer for the new Disney+ series Willow. This streaming series is a sequel to the 1998 film Willow, which follows the story of Willow, a dwarf sorcerer who tries to save a princess from an evil queen. The trailer received a huge applause from the audience.
In addition to shows, Lucasfilm also revealed the new comic book series Star Wars: The High Republic, which takes place before the events of the Star Wars film The Phantom Menace, the first movie in the prequel trilogy.
One other major development of SWCA 2022 was the reveal of Star Wars Jedi Survivor, which is the sequel to the beloved 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. It continues the story of Cal Kestis, a Jedi padawan trying to survive the age of the Empire after losing his master during Order 66, an event during the prequel trilogy when most of the Jedi died.
Many Star Wars fans have been waiting for this sequel to be released, as the first game was very popular. The reason why it is popular among fans is that it takes place during the nineteenth year between Revenge of the Sith, which is the last prequel trilogy film, and A New Hope, which was the first film to be released in the original trilogy.
